  • 1 large chili
  • 1 red onion
  • 2 garlic cloves


  • 1 salam leaf
  • 2 candle nuts
  • 1 tsp paprika powder
  • 1/2 tsp white pepper
  • 1 tsp chili flakes
  • salt to taste

You can cut potatoes and fry them from scratch, but it will be a lot of work. I simply bought these small potato fries from the store (without seasoning). It will save a lot of time but if you wish, make them from scratch!

Step 2: Chop and grind the ingredients

I decided to use my blender this time for grinding ingredients, just to change it up a little and experiment, I love the result! You will get a smooth sauce kind of flavor base, it works very well with this sambal.

Blend all the ingredients except the fried potato fries and salam leaf until smooth. This will form the flavorful base of our sambal.

Step 3: Fry sambal goreng kentang

Heat oil and fry the ground paste together with the salam leaf for a few minutes until aromatic.

Add the small fried potato fries to the pan and stir well to coat them with the sambal paste. Continue frying until the potatoes are well integrated and the flavors meld together.

Step 4: Serve and conserve sambal goreng kentang
